Getting Ready For Our 2020 Trip to Tanzania

Hello to everyone reading our blog.

Well it’s that time of year again when we head off to Tanzania to spend some time with ACTT (Affordable Computers and Technology for Tanzania) and all the schools that we are now supporting. As you know we have been fundraising over the last year to make sure we can continue with our project work. This year with your help, we have raised over £2900 so I just want to say a big thank you to everyone involved, you are all part of this project. One of the aims of this blog will be to show you how that money is being spent and which schools are benefiting this year.

We will be in Tanzania for 3 weeks from the 22nd January until the 12th of February, staying in Mwanza, Geita, Chato and Moshi. We are aiming to visit 13 schools, 11 of which have already received some support and at least 2 new schools who will join the project this year. We will also be spending time with the staff and agents of ACTT in both Moshi and Mwanza. As always Robert has organised the annual ACTT Retreat while we are there and this year it will be held towards the end of our stay in Moshi.

On this trip we have chosen a couple of new places to stay as well as some familiar ones. We have also given ourselves a weekend break up on Lake Victoria in the middle of our trip, so we can recharge our batteries (and give Robert at ACTT a break from us 😀).

This year we will also be joined in Moshi by my sister and her husband. They will have been up in the Serengeti doing a safari and are going to spend their last couple of days in Tanzania with us before they fly back to the UK. It will be great to introduce them to the work of ACTT and show them around.

So it is now time for Pete and I to start packing for the trip!! We leave Bristol early on Wednesday morning and arrive in Kilimanjaro late that evening and then fly up to Mwanza the following day. So my next blog entry should be from Mwanza towards the end of next week.
